JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – A new CEO will be taking over the largest privately held wireless carrier and the sixth-largest carrier in the nation, C Spire.
Effective July 1, current company President, Suzy Hays, will take the role of CEO from the long-standing current CEO, Hu Meena.
“It’s time for her to lead this company and I’m really looking forward to trying to assist her in those efforts,” said Meena.
“I think I’ve been very, very blessed over many years to, to have him to help guide me and teach me,” said Hays.
Hays has served in several executive roles in the company, such as chief marketing officer.
Given her experience, she says Meena had already approached her about the job before Monday’s official announcement.
“While it was absolutely quite a lot to process, all I could really think about and takeaway is what an honor, what a privilege to help serve our company and our customers in this way,” she said.
With a huge change in leadership for C Spire, she promises the transition isn’t going to effect the way the company puts customers first.
“One of the things that will not change as this transition happens is you know, C Spire stands for customer inspired,” she said. “That’s, that’s our name, and so we will always be about how do we help our customers and our part of the world be ahead in technology in ways that they haven’t even thought of yet.”
While Hays will make the move to CEO, Meena says he’s also taking a higher role with C Spire’s holding company Telapex.
“I am excited,” he said. “It’s kind of time for a change. I’ve been doing this a long time, but I’m really more excited about the person who’s gonna follow me. Suzy Hays has been around for a long time and not just been around. She’s been very, very successful in a number of roles throughout the company. She’s made an impact in every role she’s been in.”
Hays says while big changes and improvements will come during her future leadership, questions about what’s next for the company don’t have a simple answer.
“So what’s next for C Spire? You know, I think that what’s interesting about the answer to that question, it’s the same answer as what our history is about, you know, again, C Spire stands for customer inspired, we will be focusing on how do we ensure our part of the world stays ahead of technology,” she said.
