London, 10 June 2024: The News Movement, the social-first publisher and creative studio, announces its partnership with the Young Lions Competitions at Cannes Lions. For The News Movement, this is the first collaboration of its kind, as The News Movement journalists bring the competition to life through behind-the-scenes video content designed to capture the spirit of creativity and innovation that fuels the Festival, as well as stories of the people behind the competition. The partnership will be featured on The News Movement’s social channels, reaching 50 million people every month.
The journalists will follow the competition, capturing the highlights in a series of themed videos focusing on topics including stories of the competitors, advice for careers in advertising, and interviews with the agency leaders of tomorrow. The video series will be curated by The News Movement’s Editorial Director Becca Hutson.
The content will be amplified on The News Movement’s social platforms during the Festival. Known for its peer-to-peer approach to storytelling that reaches millions of 18-30-year-olds each week, the publisher is a natural creative fit for the competition.
Lotte Jones, Chief Commercial Officer, The News Movement, said: “Championing young, diverse talent at the Festival becomes more important every year and we are thrilled to do our part in esteeming the generation we believe is changing everything. We’re delighted to work alongside Young Lions to create engaging, immersive content that will resonate way beyond the competition and inspire our followers with behind-the-scenes stories of what it takes to have a career in the creative industries.”
Simon Cook, CEO, LIONS, said: “We’re delighted to welcome The News Movement as our official Media Partner for this year’s Young Lions Competitions. The competitions were launched in 1995 as a way to showcase and advance the incredible talent of the next generation. Every year more than 10,000 people from across 90 countries compete in regional competitions with the winners coming together to compete on the global stage at Cannes Lions. Young creatives are the future of our industry and partnering with the News Movement allows us to further spotlight the next generation of talent and the innovative energy they bring to the Festival every year. We’re excited to welcome this year’s Young Lions competitors, and showcase how they tackle the brief to create impactful work.”
The agreement with Young Lions is the first of several high-profile partnerships The News Movement has planned for 2024. The publisher has seen record growth and recently expanded its commercial and sales teams to accelerate its business generation.
