Weave builds personal brand architecture for growth strategist, Matt Jones

Sydney.  July 29, 2026: Independent creative agency Weave has unveiled the new brand architecture for keynote speaker, author and brand growth strategist, Matt Jones, creating a distinctive strategic platform that positions story, not just as a communications skill, but as critical business architecture.

While Weave and Jones have collaborated for more than a decade across some of Australia’s most recognised brands this latest collaboration marks a new chapter in the longstanding partnership, with the agency developing the complete strategic and creative foundation for Jones’ personal brand.

Jones’ career spans military intelligence, global politics, brand experience and the Australian spirits industry, including as co-founder of iconic Australian spirits brand, Four Pillars Gin. Throughout that journey he has advised brands and business leaders on the role of story to drive growth, culture and customer connection.  With his focus now broadening as a keynote speaker, author, columnist, podcaster and thought leader, Jones engaged Weave to create a personal brand capable of clearly expressing his point of difference in an increasingly crowded market.

Rather than beginning with visual identity, Weave’s remit centred on defining a brand platform that could own a distinctive position within the advisory category.

Weave reframed the power of story from a soft skill into a strategic discipline: a form of applied creative intelligence that helps organisations create clarity, shape decisions, and inspire action. From that strategic foundation, the agency developed a complete brand narrative built around three interconnected ideas: story as a lens for clarity, an engine for growth, and an instinctive human behaviour.

Daniel Cookson, Executive Creative Director at Weave, said the project demonstrates that successful brand identities can be built from strategic conviction rather than visual trends.

Cookson said: “For us, this wasn’t about designing a personal brand that looked different, it was about creating one that thought differently.

“Every creative decision was grounded in a strategic idea about the role story plays in business today. The visual identity reflects the tension between seemingly opposing ideas like strategy and creativity and logic and emotion because that’s where Matt does his best work. When your brand strategy is clear, the creative becomes a natural extension of the story you’re telling.”

That brand thinking informed every aspect of the creative system, from the visual identity and editorial design language through to the website experience, presentation templates, social channels, brand film and the creation of a visual identity for StoryWork, Jones’ new podcast brand.

The identity itself reflects Jones’ ability to bridge strategy and creativity, thinking and doing, brand and commercial outcomes. A custom wordmark, a distinctive and confident signature colour palette plus a distinctive editorial grid system work together to create a brand that feels both modern and enduring.

Jones said the brand creative process challenged him to articulate not simply what he does, but what he believes.

He said: “I’ve spent years helping brands uncover the stories that define who they are and why they matter. Turning that lens on myself was unexpectedly challenging. Weave didn’t just create an identity; they helped distil years of experience into a strategic point of view that genuinely reflects how I think and work. The result is a brand that gives me clarity, confidence, and a platform that can grow alongside the next chapter of my business.”
