VOICE X MUSIC Launches to Help Artists Navigate Industry Pressures and Rediscover their Authentic Voices

Amsterdam, 28 May 2026 – Modern musicians are being pulled in more directions than ever before. They’re navigating the pressures of constant output, live performance and an industry now shaped by algorithms. This means that maintaining creative identity and mental resilience has become more challenging than ever. In response to this, business therapy lab VOICE, founded by Natalia Forster, launched its new VOICE X MUSIC programme, designed to help artists navigate these pressures while staying connected to their authentic voice.

VOICE X MUSIC introduces a structured, essence-based approach that enables musicians to strengthen resilience without sacrificing the sensitivity that drives their creativity.

Musicians remain one of the most under-supported creative groups, with few formal pathways offering real-world preparation for the realities of the industry. Instead, many are forced to learn on the job, balancing creative output, public exposure and commercial expectations, often without guidance or support.

At the same time, the industry itself is evolving in ways that can further disconnect artists from their identity. Natalia Forster, founder of VOICE, recently highlighted in her presentation at the Lisbon Dance Summit that 73% of artists say they have released music that didn’t feel like ‘them’. This is a clear signal of the growing pressure to conform to external expectations. As Forster puts it, “sameness is the new lazy — the killer of essence.”

She says: “Musicians are regularly exposed to the pressure cooker of live shows, where they are effectively naked in front of an audience with high expectations and zero patience or empathy. These are, for the most part, highly sensitive and often insecure individuals, navigating the brutal realities of an industry that is fundamentally commercial – one that makes most of its decisions based on commerce, with little consideration for the human impact on artists themselves”.

During a headliner workshop at the Lisbon Dance Summit last week, Forster laid out how reconnecting with our essence is a key element in dealing effectively with the multiple pressures of being a musician. Using VOICE’s unique, proprietary VEMM (Voice Essence Map Method) to create an environment for self-exploration and genuine expression, VOICE empowers musicians to reconnect with their core values and aspirations. In doing so, they are better able to articulate their authentic voices, transforming their identities into powerful shields that protect them against the real- world demands of their record label, manager or booker, alongside the incessant demands for communication and exchange from their fans. In turn, it enables them to make clearer decisions and work with stronger boundaries.

The approach comes from a powerful idea: an artist’s voice is not something to be found, but something to return to.

As explored in Lisbon, today’s music landscape is increasingly shaped by sameness, driven by algorithms and commercial pressure, making authentic expression both harder and more valuable than ever.

Forster adds: “Reconnecting with essence and using it as an identity shield will protect your decisions/choices and your ability to silence both the internal and external noise, and find the panic room within. We all have it. We just don’t always have the tools to access it. Once we are plugged back into our own essence, we start operating with more boundaries and self respect, and all musicians need that.”

The programme also aims to contribute to a broader systemic shift in how the industry supports creative talent, moving away from a ‘sink or swim’ model towards a more sustainable and human-centred approach.

Lisbon Dance Summit Programmer Gary Smith commented: “Natalia is a force of nature who delivers practical wisdom wrapped in humour, dignity and empathy. Her workshop was one of the highlights of our daytime programme, and a measure of that was the crowd reaction, with seasoned professionals and emerging acts alike admitting to have been deeply affected by her insights. As someone who has been working on events for 30 years, this was right up there with the very best presentations I’ve witnessed.”

Lisbon Dance Summit partner Nuno da Silva Carvalho put it after Natalia’s session: “What VOICE brought to the room was exactly what Lisbon Dance Summit stands for: honest conversations, human connection and real cultural impact beyond the noise. In a world moving faster every day, protecting authenticity and human essence becomes revolutionary.”
