Vilpa Films, the production company established by Mexican producer, filmmaker, and author Alejandro Vilpa, has launched their brand-new platform, Vilpa Max, on January 31st! The platform seeks to provide short filmmakers from around the world an opportunity to present their work to a global audience.
Vilpa Max, which is first rolling out in the UK, North Africa, and Middle East, before going to further territories later, will have two options; a freemium business model which will include ads, and a paid subscription option, £4.99 in the UK and $ 3.99 in the Middle East and North Africa. The news was first announced on Monday December 22nd in The Hollywood Reporter.
The films that are included on the platform at launch include Oscar-winning short “The Mozart of Pickpockets” from writer/director Philippe Pollet-Villard, the Oscar-nominated “The Red Suitcase” from director Cyrus Neshvad, and Palme d’Or winning “All the Crows in the World” from writer/director Yi Tang.
Other titles set to be featured are “Poof” from director Dean Anderson, and “Love is Blind” from director Dan Hodgson, both of which were official selections at Festival de Cannes. They will be joined by the “Bienvenidos a Los Ángeles” from writer/director Lisa Cole, which was shortlisted at the 96th Academy Awards, and “Nocturne in Black” which gained significant support and praise on the international film festival circuit during its run.
Speaking about his new venture, Alejandro has said:
“Vilpa Max is a bridge where talented new voices and Oscar- and Cannes-winning films come together under the same home. We believe in cultural impact and in creating opportunities for filmmakers to be seen, supported, and remembered.”
Alejandro Vilpa is an internationally published author in Mexico, Latin America, and Spain, and the founder of Vilpa Films — a boutique production company working with Oscar-winning and Cannes-acclaimed films. He is a member of the Forbes Business Council and previously contributed to the script development team at Caledonia Productions, the U.S. branch of Eon Productions, the producers of James Bond.
In 2025, he produced and shot a short film, “The Undertone of David Jansen”, in Prague with the support of the Czech Ministry of Culture and the Mexican Embassy.
