Viceverse: the office in the metaverse designed by BIG
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The recently opened Viceverse office, designed by BIG (Bjarke Ingels Group) for Vice Media Group (publisher of magazines asVice, i-D, Muchies and more), is a metaverse workplace and adds another dimension to the company’s existing offices in 25 different countries across the world. It will serve as virtual innovation lab and allow employees to work in the metaverse on NFTs (Non Fungible Tokens) and other digital projects.

The virtual office is located on the Decentraland platform, an open-source meta world where people create unique avatars to represent their physical selves. The workspace looks like a white building with an undulating facade, with many levels that can be accessed through a central tunnel, where employees can conduct meetings and collaborate all over the world.

Virtue Futures, Vice Media’s creative agency, worked together with BIG on the office, which its Global Executive Creative Director of Innovation, Morten Grubak, believes will foster creativity at the multi-platform media company. “Teams can experiment with NFTs, Decentralised Autonomous Organisations (DAOs) and Web 3.0, applying insights directly for brands […],” he said, and added: “The space showcases a range of digital experiments, and has plenty of hidden extras for curious explorers – including a direct route for young creatives to reach a selection of highly acclaimed global Meta-Mentors. […] It will also serve as a launchpad for digital field research into the sociology of digital communities”.
