Last week, in Auckland New Zealand, a 2-tonne, 2-metre tall ice sculpture was unveiled consisting of 49 frozen blocks of ice with mobile phones frozen inside – with calls from ‘Earth’ ringing throughout the day.
Entitled, “Answer the Call” the melting ice installation was designed to highlight the urgent need for climate action. Telecommunications company 2degrees had looked to its creative agency partner for an impactful way to do this.
Developed by TBWA\ New Zealand, “Answer the Call” taps into the power of visual storytelling to drive home the message that immediate climate action is required.
This creative concept marked a significant milestone for 2degrees in its sustainability journey; becoming the first New Zealand telecommunications business to have its target of reaching net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2040 validated by Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
