Shiny unpacks how to make content for marketing
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Following on from their first talk of the year on why brands choose to go direct to production, Shiny hosted an insight-filled follow up talk on Making Content for Marketing.

The event started with a chat with industry legend, director David Wilson who shared how his queer identity informs his work and his journey thus far.

The panel was moderated by Tara Bartlett (EP at Lowkey Films) who spoke to Dan Keefe (Head of Studio for We Are Social) and Tara Kefayati (Marketing Manager for Columbia Records) who both shared interesting insights into how their content gets made. They covered questions such as what are the budgets, what is their marketing process, who makes this content and what are the opportunities for directors at different stages of their careers.

Two key insights that were taken from the discussion were that if you want to win work with social in it, you will have to show your social work on your website. Secondly, if you don’t know how social content campaigns work, it is important to find out as you’ll need to demonstrate that you do know.

Dan Keefe mentioned that the talk “felt like a room full of people who were really interested, open and keen to get some insight & inspiration which always makes for a fun panel.” He notes that he is “always happy to help when it comes to Shiny events because the audience is so engaged and appreciative, and the aims of Shiny are so positive and important.”

Tara Kefayati added that “it was a real pleasure to be part of it. The atmosphere was so welcoming, and it felt like a genuinely meaningful gathering!

It was also a great opportunity to connect with people I wouldn’t have met otherwise, I had a couple of really interesting conversations that I’m keen to follow up on.”

Shiny is committed to providing opportunities like this for both directors and companies to learn how to navigate advertising production and promises many events to come this year.
