Saatchi & Saatchi has won the creative account for the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2022.

The event – hosted by Australia – will be promoted by the agency’s ‘Nothing Beats Like It’ campaign, created to engage and excite the basketball community as well as new local fans.

The campaign features a 30-second spot capturing the atmosphere and excitement of the competition. A lively soundtrack with bouncing basketballs, squeaking sneakers and crowds cheering plays over a montage of scenes from basketball games and famous Sydney locations, showcasing reasons why ‘Nothing Beats Like It’. The word ‘beat’ is re-used to encourages viewers to ‘be at’ the competition.

The campaign will also include executions across print, OOH, digital and social content, appearing in the lead up to, and during the games.

Taryn Kirby, general manager of marketing, media & communications for the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2022 local organising committee, said: “We’re delighted to appoint and work with Saatchi & Saatchi as they clearly understood the excitement and passion we expect to generate through this global event.

“The new creative demonstrates the vibrancy and unity of our players and audience; we are looking forward to rolling it out across Australia in the lead up to the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in Sydney next year.”

Toby Aldred, general manager of Saatchi & Saatchi, added: “Working on the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2022 is a rare opportunity. We intend to fire up as many Australians as possible to experience for themselves what it feels like to be court side at a live game with the best of the world’s players here in Sydney.”

The FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup will be held at Sydney Olympic Park from 22 September to 1 October this year, with support from the NSW Government through tourism and major events agency Destination NSW, as well as the Office of Sport.
