Renault 5 Turbo 3E advertising film – electric vs. Petrol

  • In 2025, Renault 5 Turbo 3E will boost the legend with a dual 100% electric motor delivering 555 hp¹, lightning-fast acceleration and the ultimate driving experience.
  • Only 1,980 units will be produced, with extreme customisation options, including bespoke designs created by our designers.
  • Renault presents a spectacular film to accompany the launch of this exceptional model.

In 1980, the Renault 5 Turbo was the first French production car to feature a turbocharged petrol engine, with 160 hp.

Unveiled in March 2025, Renault 5 Turbo 3E has been available for pre-order since April, ahead of its official launch in 2026.

Combining a nod to the icons of the 1980s with cutting-edge technology, this electric sports car promises to be the most powerful ever produced by Renault.

Renault and its agency Publicis Conseil unveil a film that showcases this ultimate French sports car.

In a dark and silent garage, Renault 5 Turbo 3E waits. Technicians bustle around it in a solemn, almost ritualistic atmosphere. The driver enters the scene, gets ready, then settles into the car. A metaphorical face-off between electricity and petrol then begins, symbolised by a line of fire lighting up on the ground, against which Renault 5 Turbo 3E will compete. What follows is an intense and stylised race between the high-powered electric car and this line of fire representing the combustion engine heritage.

This frantic race is accompanied by Kavinsky’s track ‘Nightcall’. With vocals by Angèle and orchestration by the band Phoenix, it is an ‘All Star’ reunion of the best French-speaking artists on the international scene, a musical backdrop that perfectly complements the film’s nocturnal atmosphere.

The Start-Rec agency took particular care to craft the overall sound design, which is highly cinematic, combining depth, tension and precision.

‘In this film, we see a clash between the line of fire, which embodies the mechanical fervour of the 1980s and 1990s burning oil, and the electric version that emerges like a silent flash: a frantic race between the memory of the past and the promise of a future in motion.’

Arnaud Belloni, Global Marketing Director, Renault

Launched on television during the Formula 1 Grand Prix, broadcasting will begin on 19 October during the United States Grand Prix.

RENAULT 5 TURBO 3E: THE ELECTRIFICATION OF A LEGEND

Renault 5 Turbo 3E, which will be assembled at the Alpine Dieppe Jean Rédélé factory, revives the legend of the Renault 5 Turbo and Turbo 2 in a modern, electric reinterpretation with an exuberant design. With its 800-volt architecture and two 555-horsepower wheel motors, it embodies both the innovation and sporting spirit of the Renault brand. Based on a custom-built aluminium platform tailored to its ambitions and performance, Renault 5 Turbo 3E boasts spectacular dimensions: 4.08 m long, 2.03 m wide and 1.38 m high. With the width of a supercar and the length of a city car, its performance creates a new category of ‘mini supercars’. Renault 5 Turbo 3E has two innovative rear-mounted wheel motors, making it rear-wheel drive. It develops the equivalent of 555 hp and has a torque of 4,800 Nm available even more immediately than with a conventional electric motor. With its all-carbon superstructure, it weighs less than 1,450 kg and can go from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 3.5 seconds. Equipped with a 70-kWh battery and an internal DC charger that accepts up to 350 kW thanks to its 800-volt architecture, it takes only about 15 minutes to go from 15% to 80% charge. The standard WLTP range will be over 400 kilometres.

Available in only 1,980 numbered units, Renault 5 Turbo 3E has a dedicated reservation system that has been open since April. It allows customers to make an appointment with a dealer to sign a reservation form, which entitles them to purchase a Renault 5 Turbo 3E when sales open and, if desired, choose its number.
