– She joins Pattrn following period of growth which has seen the consultancy’s staff numbers increase by nearly 90% year-on-year

London, 23rd July 2024 – Customer experience and digital product design consultancy Pattrn has today announced the appointment of April Felker to the newly created role of Experience Design Director, following a period of significant growth.

A product design expert with over 20 years’ experience conceiving and crafting user-focused experiences, Felker joins from creative agency BBH, where she was Head of UX/UI, leading digital and brand experience work for clients such as Audi, Samsung, Western Union and Tesco.

In her new role at Pattrn, Felker will elevate the studio’s design output leveraging Pattrn’s customer-centric approach to tackle complex business problems. She will support teams to deliver strategic products and services for notable global clients, including Informa Markets and AXA Investment Managers.

Reporting to Chris Lewis, Pattrn’s Co-Founder and Head of Design, Felker will lead a team of eight digital product designers.

Felker brings a wealth of experience gained both agency and client-side. She started her career in Vancouver, before moving to New York where she spent a decade working in brand and digital design. During her 16 years in London, she has led teams and worked to develop world-class websites and products for a diverse range of clients.

She has also previously worked as a freelance design consultant, with stints at agencies including Tribal Worldwide, VCCP and Isobar, and in-house for brands such as Habitat, Natural History Museum and Crabtree & Evelyn. Her career highlights include strategic and design development for O2, Bentley Motors, Volkswagen, Wren Kitchens and De Beers.

Following seven years of sustained growth, Pattrn has recently seen an acceleration in its expansion, with its team increasing by nearly 90% year-on-year in order to deliver a number of major digital transformation programmes for global clients. With a continued focus on an equitable workplace, women currently make up 50% of Pattrn’s leadership team and 60% of the studio overall.

Chris Lewis, Co-founder and Head of Design, Pattrn, said: “We are delighted that April is joining us during this exciting phase of growth for Pattrn. She has worked on such a wide range of projects, and her energy and passion for design are truly impressive.

“April is a natural leader and fits right in with our team. Her knack for solving complex problems, understanding and defining top-notch digital brands, and delivering high-quality designs will definitely make a big impact on our business and our clients.

“Her expertise in design strategy and her deep understanding of user-centred design are just what we need to keep pushing our innovative and user-focussed design culture forward.”

April Felker, new Experience Design Director, Pattrn, added: “I’m thrilled to be joining the high calibre team at Pattrn, and look forward to tapping into my extensive experience in digital to develop our capabilities and produce top tier work for our clients.”
