As a director, Jason hones the subtle nuances of human relationships and naturalistic dialogue amid strange circumstances, rooting even the most absurd concepts into realism. His expert comedic timing can be seen in many commercial films for popular brands like Goldfish, Google, and Casino Days, with a Bronze Cannes Lions win for his laugh-out-loud work with KFC. He’s also directed many spots for Canadian entities like Real Canadian Superstore and Choose. CA. Jason helmed ads promoting the Brooklyn Film Festival and the Save Florida Man climate change initiative, which speaks to his innate ability to elevate a cause through story and expand a film’s relatability through his sharp sense of humor.
Hailing from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Jason grew up in the industry, frequently visiting his cinematographer father on set. Watching directors work across a variety of genres, he developed a deep appreciation for the craft of filmmaking. His films focus on strong casting and performances, with clear, structured storytelling. In his narrative filmmaking career, Jason won an Emerging Filmmaker Award at TIFF and was nominated for Best Narrative Short Film at the Tribeca Film Festival for his short “A Teachable Moment.” That film and his short “Clown Face” both earned Vimeo Staff Picks.
