With a namesake translating “to catch the sun,” the one-year-old company – recently named Best Small-Batch Tequila Brand 2026 by Men’s Journal – sits at the intersection of luxury spirits and world class hospitality with a brand that extends beyond the bottle to offer an immersive, destination-driven experience. Rooted in the sunny, live-in-the-moment ethos of coastal Mexico, Cachasol brings together the spirit of American craft distilling and a fifth-generation Master Tequilero Jaime Villalobos Sauza to create the industry’s first IPA-inspired tequila.

Founded by industry veteran James Montenero – whose 20 year career spans Jose Cuervo, Don Julio, and one of the first craft beer distilleries in the US, Dogfish Head – Cachasol utilizes an ale yeast to unlock vibrant citrus and floral notes of the agave. The two expressions of its small-batch tequila – Cachasol Blanco Tequila (40% ABV) and Cachasol Epic Strength Tequila (48% ABV) – offer a distinctive terroir reflecting the land and climate with agave sourced from Nayarit’s rugged hills, while non-chill filtration keeps the boldest elements of the agave intact. 

But the liquid is only half of the Cachasol story: the brand was born with a vision of creating a destination-driven, experiential approach to tequila, inspiring guests to live in the moment and, quite literally, carry the sunshine of the Mexican coast home with them. 

Set across six acres of agaves, gardens, and rustic-luxury architecture, Cachasol’s Farm Distillery estate invites travelers and locals alike to immerse themselves in tequila and raicilla culture with a Sonoma-style experience, exploring the sun-drenched land, tasting from field to glass, and enjoying relaxed farm-to-table experiences shaped by flavor, nature, and the easy rhythm of coastal Mexico. 

In addition to immersive farm distillery tours, interactive cooking classes, and an open-kitchen farm-to-table dining experience, Cachasol offers seasonal tasting and community-focused events and has private event capabilities for parties and gatherings, including weddings. Guests can also sip – and purchase – coastal-style raicillas and small-batch expressions exclusively onsite. Cacahsol’s two hero tequila expressions – Blanco and Epic Strength – can also be shipped directly to consumers across the US (except MI, SD, or UT) via the Cachasol website.
