August 15, 2024 — BUCK, a leading global design company, is thrilled to announce “NEW BEGINNINGS,” a group art show centered on change, opportunity, and rebirth featuring twenty artists from BUCK’s Asian Employee Resource Group (ERG) APAC@BUCK. The show is on view at Land to Sea, an Asian American- and Women-owned café and creative venue in Brooklyn, NY, known for its community-centric events.
“NEW BEGINNINGS” celebrates the Year of the Dragon, symbolizing change, opportunity, and rebirth. This theme encapsulates the journey of pursuing dreams and transforming them into reality. The show explores the diversity of visual media, individual experiences, and Asian identities from the perspectives of twenty BUCK artists spanning three studio locations (New York, Los Angeles, and Sydney) and six departments.
The show includes an array of mediums and materials, including Risograph print, giclee print, pen plotter drawing, traditional ink, silk scarves, embroidery, 16mm film, Riso animation, temporary tattoos, and stickers.
“Projects like these excite me about being part of our ERG. I’m incredibly honored to support an initiative that gives our community access to deepen their artistic practice—a project that highlights not only our talents but also the heart that makes APAC@BUCK so special. I’m especially grateful to Michelle Higa Fox (Group Creative Director) and HJ Kim (Producer) for going above and beyond to make this event a success! They worked tirelessly from beginning to end – thank you!”
Jenny Ko, Group Creative Director and APAC@BUCK Lead at BUCK
“Working with the APAC team of BUCK Design is really a dream come true for us. On top of working with an insanely talented group of individuals, we have the opportunity to share and support their art and the cultures they all represent to our Brooklyn community. This is what Land to Sea is about. We always strive to be the medium for our community of friends, strangers, and customers to come to discover and support new artists. We hope to spark conversations about art and creativity and have our guests take home something that resonates with their lives. We cherish being a public space that allows for connection in this way.”
Eva Zhou, Founder at Land to Sea
Land to Sea is the host of “NEW BEGINNINGS.” Located in the heart of Brooklyn, Land to Sea is more than just a café. It is a vibrant hub for creative expression, hosting a variety of events such as art exhibitions, bake sales, workshops, and film screenings. The café’s mission is to foster a strong sense of community and create a hub for creative expression.
A portion of each sale from “NEW BEGINNINGS” will benefit non-profit organizations chosen by each artist, including Heart of Dinner and A21. Heart of Dinner’s mission is to address food insecurity, social isolation, and loneliness among Asian American seniors who live in under-resourced and underinvested communities. A21 is one of the largest organizations in the world fighting to end human trafficking at local, domestic, and international levels.
