Never. Always. Launches a new kind of agency, blending AI-first thinking with a no-layers model

Sydney: Leading Creative, Brad Stevens, formerly of DEPT and M+C Saatchi, has launched Never. Always., a new kind of agency built on lessons learned from years inside large global networks, and a belief that most agency structures get in the way of better work.

After seeing how ideas are often diluted through layers, handoffs, and junior execution, Stevens built Never. Always. as an anti-agency model: deliberately small, senior, and layer-free, working with a network of experienced talent so clients always work directly with the people doing the thinking and making.

Stevens said: “We’ve taken everything I’ve learned in big agencies and removed what slows great work down. No layers, no handoffs, no dilution, just senior people doing the work, supported by AI to move faster and explore further.”

“I’ve built the agency model on the belief that the best ideas sit between what is and what should be, and we are guided by a simple mantra: ‘Never create what the category expects. Always create what the real world wishes existed.’”

Never. Always. specialises in brand creation and creative campaigns focusing on digital businesses and products that need a partner who can work at their pace. Clients benefit from a model focused on clarity, speed, and craft, without the overhead, theatre, or fragmentation of traditional agencies.

The agency uses technology to accelerate thinking, rapidly prototype digital brands, and stay closer to shifting human behaviour and culture, not as a bolt-on, but as part of the creative process itself.

Early foundation clients include LawConnect and AEYIA, who are partnering with Never. Always. to evolve their brands and build work designed to cut through in a crowded, fast-moving digital world.

David Vitek, CEO of LawConnect, said: “We worked with Brad at DEPT on Finchly and knew we wanted him involved again as we scale LawConnect. He brings clarity to complexity and consistently delivers work that performs. We can’t wait to see what evolves.”

“Creativity has never been about size,” Stevens added. “It’s about relevance, imagination, and impact.”
