MRM New York, part of McCann Worldgroup, has announced the appointment of Aussie expat Sinead Roarty as executive vice president, executive creative director, effective September.
Roarty has built an esteemed career across the creative industry, with her most recent agency role at Wunderman Thompson Australia, where she led award-winning work for clients including Kellogg’s, Johnson & Johnson, HSBC, Avon, Subway, NSW Rural Fire Service and I Touch Myself Project. She will report to MRM New York chief creative officer Harsh Kapadia.
Throughout her career, Roarty has excelled at building meaningful relationships with audiences by creating work about the things they love – social justice, music, sports, fashion and beyond. Much of Roarty’s work has shifted cultural conversations, including the likes of the Logie finalist, ‘I Touch Myself Project’ with Serena Williams, which reached over a billion people during Breast Cancer Awareness Month; the global data-led ‘Subway Live Feed’ campaign, which fed over 13 million people in need across 60 countries and gave Subway its biggest sales day in history; and ‘Rethink Praise,’ a feature documentary which exposed gender bias in the way girls are praised, making Avon the most loved brand in Brazil.
Roarty has won over 70 global awards, including multiple Gold Lions. Her creative leadership experience includes roles at Wunderman Thompson, JWT and Ogilvy Interactive. Beyond the work, she is a board advisor to several NFPs, has been a mentor and an AWARD School lecturer, and has judged many of the industry’s leading awards shows, most recently serving on this year’s Cannes Lions’ Industry Craft Jury.
Says Roarty: “It’s time to pursue the next chapter of my career, and I couldn’t be more thrilled than to be joining Harsh and the team at one of the most awarded networks in the world. Their insane commitment to limitless creativity and building meaningful relationships through innovation is music to my ears. With a brilliant roster of clients to play with, I can’t wait to start hatching some crazy ideas with this truly diverse and talented group of people.”
Says Kapadia: “Sinead’s talent, her passion for technology and fresh perspective aligns with the kind of thinking we want, to keep pushing the boundaries of creativity for our clients at MRM New York. I’m ecstatic to welcome Sinead. Her award-winning track record and international perspective will make the perfect addition to further our creative ambition in months and years to come.”
Roarty’s role signals the latest roster addition to MRM New York’s rapidly growing creative team after the agency announced the appointment of more than 11 senior creatives last month.
