Motion Sickness’ international growth and recognition continues at The One Club for Creativity’s One Show in New York, with the independent creative company now ranked the #3 independent agency in the world in The One Show Global Creative Rankings.
Motion Sickness took home multiple pencils at this year’s event, including the Fusion Pencil, one of the show’s most coveted honours, for Whānau Ora: The Māori Roll Call. The campaign also received a Sustainable Development Goals Pencil, recognising creative work that advances the United Nations’ global framework for people and planet.Created to drive enrolment on the Māori electoral roll, The Māori Roll Call is becoming one of the most internationally recognised indigenous campaigns globally.

Also recognised across the evening was a Bronze Pencil in Creative Effectiveness for The Best Place In The World To Have Herpes, alongside six merits spanning Karangahape Returns, The Best Place In The World To Have Herpes, and The Māori Roll Call.
“To be ranked the #3 independent agency in the world is pretty hard to get your head around,” says Alex McManus, Partner / GM. “More than anything though, I think it reflects the ambition of the clients we get to work with, and the talent of the people inside this company. The rankings are a reflection of just how good this team is. We’ve always believed Motion Sickness could stand alongside the best creative companies in the world, so seeing that recognised at The One Show, as the company continues to grow internationally, is incredibly rewarding.”
The global rankings also saw Motion Sickness team members recognised across the Asia Pacific region. Sam Stuchbury was ranked the #1 Executive Creative Director in Asia Pacific, Melina Fiolitakis was ranked the #1 Creative Director in Asia Pacific, Logan Barnes #2 Strategist, Hamish Steptoe #2 Art Director and Hilary Ngan Kee #3 Head of Strategy.
For Hilary, Logan, and Mel, the rankings were driven by their work across The Best Place In The World To Have Herpes and The Māori Roll Call. Sam Stuchbury and Hamish Steptoes rankings were also boosted by work across those campaigns, alongside Karangahape Returns, which also performed strongly at the show.
Motion Sickness has built its reputation on creativity that tackles commercial brand work but also complex social issues without flinching, from sexual health to indigenous civic participation to online safety. The latest One Show results mark another milestone in a sustained run of international recognition for the independent creative company.
