MDRN Logic Presents The Death of The Follower Social Trend Report
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

WHO: MDRN Logic, full-service creative agency and production studio.

WHAT: MDRN Logic’s new social trend report, The Death of the Follower, examines how the rise of algorithm-driven feeds has fundamentally reshaped social media marketing. The agency finds that follower counts no longer guarantee reach, as platforms now prioritize recommended content over content from accounts users follow. Drawing on current platform dynamics and brand behavior across today’s social landscape, the report highlights a shift away from vanity metrics and audience numbers to earning attention through shareable content, community participation, and cultural relevance, concluding that influence on social media is now built continuously through meaningful engagement rather than follower count.

“Follower count is no longer a reliable measure of influence,” said Allan Gungormez, Chief Strategy Officer of MDRN Logic. “Algorithms have shifted content distribution from audience ownership to earned relevance and the brands that win will be the ones people choose to share, not just choose to follow.”

WHERE: The trend report audited a range of well-known brands to boutique small businesses’ social media accounts like Spotify, Warner Bros, KitKat, Wendy’s, Grillos, Pacsun, Gap Kids, Cash App, Pop-Tarts, Indeed, GoPuff, Bilt, Burger King, Snipes, LovieJane’s Boutique, Bean Shot Coffee, and Gelaterra. Download the full trend report here.

WHY:The Death of the Follower social trend report identifies the current trends in social media marketing as it relates to brands and businesses.

WHEN: Report created and concluded in July 2026; data and examples pulled from 2024-2026.
