MDRN Logic Presents Everything Is Becoming Canon Social Trend Report

WHO: MDRN Logic, full-service creative agency and production studio.

WHAT: MDRN Logic’s new social trend report, Everything Is Becoming Canon, examines how brands are increasingly defined not by individual campaigns or messaging, but by the moments consumers remember and repeatedly use to explain who they are. The report explores how the internet has transformed brand-building from a series of disposable marketing moments into an accumulation of shared memory, where everything from a product launch and customer interaction to a social post, founder interview or brand decision can become part of a company’s “canon.” It introduces the Canon Test: asking what a moment will teach people about a brand, whether it reinforces existing perceptions, whether people would naturally retell it, and whether it would still feel true five years from now, and ultimately argues that brands should stop chasing virality as the end goal and start building lasting memory, because “what people remember becomes canon.”

“Brands create moments. Communities decide which ones matter,” said Allan Gungormez, Chief Strategy Officer of MDRN Logic. “A launch, an apology, a product decision or a customer interaction can all become future reference points. The brands that understand this will stop treating every campaign as a fresh start and start thinking about what each moment adds to the story people already remember.”

WHERE: The report examines memorable moments and brand behaviors from companies including Nike, Taco Bell, Gap, Duolingo, Patagonia, Wendy’s, HYROX, and more, exploring how individual decisions, interactions, campaigns, and cultural moments can accumulate into a shared understanding of a brand. WHY: The report explores the changing role of marketing in a world where consumers experience brands as a collection of evidence rather than a sequence of messages. It challenges marketers to think beyond reach, impressions and individual campaigns and consider what their brands are teaching people to remember over time shifting the focus from attention to memory, consistency to continuity, and campaigns to moments that become part of a brand’s history.
