Dubai, UAE – 5th May 2022: McDonald’s UAE thanks the community for helping it achieve its Ramadan target to sell 60,000 books, and support the women of Al Ghadeer Emirati Crafts. Since the initiative’s inception, the effort was embraced by the public, leading to an additional 2,500 sales and significantly exceeding the target.
As part of its annual Ramadan efforts, McDonald’s UAE collaborated with Al Ghadeer Emirati Crafts, an Emirates Red Crescent initiative, to create a series of three coloring story books for children that was sold during Ramadan across its restaurants. The three coloring story books, priced at AED 5 each, followed locally inspired characters on their adventures across the country, promoting themes of tolerance, kindness and friendship. In addition to being locally designed and crafted by the women of Al Ghadeer, the books were penned by Emirati author Maitha Al-Khayat. The proceeds from the 62,500 books sold will be reinvested into empowering the craftswomen and enhancing their skills.
As part of its commitment to giving back, the partnership stems from years of close cooperation between McDonald’s UAE and Emirates Red Crescent. The leading quick service provider remains keen to invest in the local community, and will continue its efforts to achieve positive results for the initiatives it supports, by devoting resources to empowering those in need and welcoming the community to its restaurants to enjoy good time.
