McDonald’s Australia has officially added US-based agency Wieden+Kennedy (W+K) to its roster as an additional creative agency partner, joining its established “agency village.”
A McDonald’s spokesperson shared:
“The appointment sees the highly successful creative company join our award-winning agency village, which aims to continue to deliver compelling and successful campaigns to drive our brand and business forward.
“We were incredibly impressed by W+K’s understanding of our fans and creative approach, and we are excited to work with them alongside our existing agency partners – DDB, OMD, Akcelo, and Digitas – in 2025.
“We would like to acknowledge and thank the other agencies who participated in the process.”
This appointment follows McDonald’s October 2024 announcement that it was seeking an additional creative partner to complement its long-standing relationship with DDB Australia. At the time, McDonald’s indicated it would consider agencies from its global network, including Leo in the UK, Wieden+Kennedy and Droga5 in the US, TBWA in Europe and Asia, and DDB in New Zealand.
W+K to Establish Sydney Presence
To service the McDonald’s account, Wieden+Kennedy plans to establish a Sydney outpost. While the setup is still in its early stages, the agency will begin with a small, core team sourced from its global network and local talent. Several hires have already been made in Australia, and the team will expand as the partnership evolves.
