McKinney taps into the NFL fandom in true Little Caesars fashion
Little Caesars was selected as the official NFL pizza sponsor in June 2022 for a five year partnership. To kickstart the partnership, McKinney, Little Caesar’s AOR, created a spot that tapped into NFL fandom in true Little Caesars fashion — a little over-the-top, a little crazy, and a lot funny. McKinney has leaned into Little Caesar’s “crazier than most” brand position which comes through in this work. The spot also brings star power in the form of Matthew Stafford, quarterback of the Super Bowl 56 winning team the Los Angeles Rams.
The spot, ‘Little Caesars Training Camp’ is all about preparing NFL fans and athletes for Little Caesars to be the official pizza sponsor. The spot has a humorous take on football training camp with pizza delivery people running through football drills, fans taste testing hot slices and Super Bowl Champ Matthew Stafford yelling “pizza pizza.”
The work launched this weekend and is running across broadcast TV (including NFL games), digital and social media. The NFL is the highest-reaching sports property in the US with over 96 Million fans. For consumers, “game time” is one of the most popular group eating occasions with hand-held foods being essential.
Lyle Yetman, executive creative director, McKinney, says: “Nothing pairs better with football than Little Caesars…and maybe your lucky recliner. With a brand like Little Caesars humor is a huge part of the equation, the brand has a long and storied history of being funny, and we always try to make work that makes our team laugh. The humor here is highly irreverent, slightly wacky and all in good fun. Matthew Stafford was the perfect partner for this spot, he has a Detroit connection as does Little Caesars, and a Super Bowl Ring just like Pepperoni the Champion of Pizza Toppings so everything came together really well.”
