Over the weekend, KFC’s Zing Air made its debut, taking off for the first time on a journey above the skies. The campaign, which kicked off earlier this year, was brought to life and amplified through KFC’s agency partners, including Special PR, Stanley St, PHD, Drum, and Culture.
Zing Air is KFC’s world-first private airline service, offering a select group of lucky Kiwis the chance to fly directly from Auckland to Wellington, where they would watch the Blues take on the Hurricanes at Sky Stadium.
On board the inaugural Zing Air flight, passengers were treated to an experience like no other, with the Colonel’s signature touch evident at every stage, from check-in to boarding and beyond.
Upon arrival in Auckland, guests were ushered into a private departure lounge, adorned with red and white floral arrangements in KFC buckets, branded pillows, and, of course, some of the Colonel’s finest chicken, all seasoned with the iconic 11 secret herbs and spices.
Leanne Too, Marketing Director at KFC, said, “We’re thrilled that Zing Air has finally taken flight with our first winners this weekend. We can’t wait to keep the momentum going throughout the season with more flights. KFC has been bringing Kiwis together for years, and now we’ve found a new way to let fans enjoy two of New Zealand’s favorite pastimes: rugby and chicken.”

The Zing Air experience doesn’t end there. Four more flights will depart from different locations across New Zealand throughout the Super Rugby season, ensuring fans from all over can hop on board KFC Zing Air to cheer on their teams.

After soaking up the lounge vibes, guests walked down a KFC-striped runway to board their flight, greeted by cheerful cabin crew handing out boarding passes. Once settled, they enjoyed light refreshments and beverages onboard, instructed to relax and enjoy the smooth ride as they soared to new heights – both figuratively and literally.
Upon arriving in Wellington, passengers were whisked directly from the airplane to a private car and transferred to luxurious hotel accommodations for the night.
After some downtime, the winners were taken to Sky Stadium, where they had prime seating for both the Hurricanes Poua vs Blues Women’s match and the much-anticipated Hurricanes vs Blues match.
The following morning, after a delicious breakfast spread, guests were picked up in a private transfer and taken back to Wellington Airport for their return flight to Auckland.
