With no government-issued tax break in sight this season, KFC Canada is stepping in to help Canadians save—by covering the tax on the entire menu for online and app orders. The brand is reframing the offer with tongue firmly in cheek, positioning it as a chance to legally “commit tax evasion.”
Developed in collaboration with its agency of record, Courage, the campaign blends humor, cultural relevance, and disruptive media to deliver savings in a way only KFC can. Building on the success of last year’s popular tax break promotion, KFC Canada is once again absorbing the tax themselves, giving customers meaningful relief during one of the most expensive times of year.
The campaign brings the idea to life through unmistakably KFC executions, from a shadowy, Colonel-inspired messenger delivering the news to attention-grabbing street-level activations that turn a complex financial moment into a playful brand statement.
Key campaign elements include:
- A shadowed, Vice-style announcement featuring a familiar KFC figure revealing the promotion
- A mobile digital truck displaying “commit tax evasion” messaging, stationed outside banks and major financial buildings
- Full tax savings on all menu items ordered through the KFC App or KFC.ca
- A national digital and social push rallying Canadians during peak seasonal spending
“This is the kind of moment where cultural tension meets creative opportunity, and KFC is giving Canadians a break exactly when they need it most,” said Joel Holtby, Founder and Co–Chief Creative Officer at Courage.
The limited-time offer provides a discount equal to the applicable provincial tax on all menu items ordered via the KFC App or KFC.ca.
The campaign includes out-of-home, digital, online video, television, and social executions and is rolling out nationally starting today through January 11, 2026.
