JD Design Awards Unveils 2026 Design Theme in Mumbai, Celebrating a Legacy of Creative Excellence

Mumbai, 20 February 2026: JD Institute of Fashion Technology has officially announced the JD Design Awards 2026, marking yet another milestone in its enduring legacy of fostering and recognizing young creative talent from across India. The eagerly awaited Theme Unveiling Ceremony will be held on 24th February 2026 at 10:30 AM onwards at PVR: C&B Square, Chakala, Andheri (East), Mumbai.

The annual theme unveiling ceremony marks the intellectual beginning of the JD Design Awards journey. It reveals the creative brief that students from 17 cities across India will follow over the next four to five months as they conceptualize, research, and deliver innovative design solutions. Students across streams including fashion design, interior design, jewelry design, and product design will interpret the 2026 theme into practical, market-relevant and future-forward solutions.

The theme of JD Design Awards 2026 delves into the ever-unfolding realms of innovation, responsibility, and emerging cultural narratives, urging students to design solutions for the future that address evolving global, social, and technological paradigms.

The design journey will culminate in a series of multi-city showcases scheduled between April and September 2026, with Mumbai hosting the grand finale. These showcases offer students a professional platform to present their work before industry leaders, brand representatives, recruiters, media, and design enthusiasts.

The Theme Unveiling event, positioned as an academic and industry-centric congregation, will include the formal unveiling of the 2026 design brief, followed by a keynote address by an industry professional whose work resonates with the theme of the year. A curated panel discussion will further explore the theme’s relevance within current design trends, business strategies, sustainability paradigms, and evolving consumer narratives. The event will also have a Stand Up act. 

While the grand finale showcases are known for their glamour and scale, the theme launch is envisioned as a thought-leadership platform focused on research, critical thinking, experimentation, and real-world application — reinforcing JD Institute’s commitment to industry-integrated education.

The JD Design Awards platform has been nurtured and guided over decades by its leadership — Mr. Yogesh Dalal, Trustee; Dr. Payal Dalal, Director; and Mr.Nealesh Dalal, Managing Trustee at JD Institute of Fashion Technology, Founder – JD School of Design. Their collective vision has shaped the Awards into a nationally respected bridge between academia and industry, consistently evolving the platform to reflect contemporary design discourse while remaining rooted in educational excellence and industry relevance.
