Thursday, December 19, 2024 – Iberdrola, in collaboration with the creative agency Sra. Rushmore, presents its new Christmas campaign, starring Roque, a friendly lantern fish who, together with a little girl, embarks on an unforgettable adventure on the high seas. Under the slogan “We take care of nature, because it brings light into our lives”, the story combines the magic of Christmas with a powerful message of respect and care for the environment, highlighting the value of nature as a true source of energy.
The narrative follows the adventure of the little girl and Roque, who, inspired by the Christmas lights, plunge us into a journey full of imagination. Together they embark on a special mission: to bring the spirit of Christmas to those who are far away. Along the way, the lantern fish learns to turn on its own light, symbolizing how nature has the power to light the way and make the world a better place.
Fernando Velázquez, a renowned composer, has created an emotional soundtrack for the campaign, performed by the Orquesta de la Comunidad de Madrid (ORCAM). This collaboration brings an emotional depth that is only possible with an original composition, highlighting the link between music and narrative.
A protagonist that shines between fantasy and reality
The design of Roque, the charming lantern fish that brings the campaign to life, was created by the Glasswork post-production studio. For more than four months, the team worked to develop a character that combines elements of fantasy and realism, achieving an immediate emotional connection.
A shoot full of challenges and unique moments
The production, in charge of Roma and directed by David Vergès, took place over three days in the picturesque coastal town of Luarca, Asturias. The offshore scenes posed a technical and logistical challenge for the crew. The conditions were so complicated that the main actor suffered seasickness, and the drone used for the filming had difficulty returning to the ship due to the heavy swell.
The crew of the fishing boat, featured in the commercial, are the real crew of the ship and thoroughly enjoyed the shoot, watching as some of the technical crew dealt with the constant motion of the sea. Meanwhile, in the village, the streets were decorated with Christmas lights, creating a magical atmosphere that aroused curiosity among the locals, who were quick to speculate about the purpose of the filming.
With this campaign, Iberdrola reinforces its commitment to the environment, highlighting the importance of caring for nature as a source of light. “Roque” is not only a Christmas story, but also a reminder of the importance of caring for our natural environment. Iberdrola takes this opportunity to convey that true light comes not only from Christmas decorations, but from nature itself.
The campaign will feature a deployment on television, outdoor, digital platforms and social networks, accompanied by several special actions that are yet to be unveiled.
