IAB Australia has announced the appointment of Suzie Cardwell, Nine’s Chief Data Officer, as Chair of the IAB Australia Board, with Sarah Myers, GM Audience and Marketing at REA Group, named Deputy Chair.
Additionally, three new Board members have been appointed: Dean La Rosa, General Manager, Commercial Data at News Corp; Heather McGovern, Acting CMO at Domain; and Davor Vilusic, Executive General Manager Media at carsales.
Cardwell takes over from Vanya Mariani, who stepped down following her departure from carsales. In her new role, she will collaborate closely with IAB Australia CEO, Gai Le Roy, to establish responsible frameworks aligning with marketer, consumer, and government expectations through 2025, while also addressing evolving market dynamics.
The Board’s key priorities include harmonizing carbon emissions tracking for media buying and planning, advancing the digital ratings currency Ipsos iris, preparing for upcoming privacy reforms, and providing education on AI developments impacting digital advertising. These initiatives are outlined in the IAB Australia Annual Report.
Le Roy expressed gratitude for Mariani’s leadership, stating, “Vanya has driven a vibrant and productive era for the IAB and has been a positive force in the industry. We are incredibly fortunate to have Suzie, a highly respected digital advertising leader, stepping into the chair role. Her strategic insights and market knowledge will be complemented by Sarah’s expertise in marketing and audience trends.”
Cardwell shared her enthusiasm for the role, saying, “I’m honored to be appointed Chair of the IAB Australia Board and excited to work with Gai and the Board to further IAB Australia’s mission. The digital advertising landscape is complex, but by working together, we can navigate the challenges and opportunities ahead while ensuring the industry’s continued growth and evolution.”
With over 20 years of experience in media, digital, and data, Cardwell has held leadership positions at major media organizations, including News Corp and Foxtel, before joining Nine. As Chief Data Officer, she plays a key role in enhancing consumer and commercial experiences while identifying future opportunities.
Myers, an accomplished marketing leader with over two decades of experience, has helped grow and expand renowned Australian brands such as realestate.com.au, Mortgage Choice, Domain, SMH, and The Age. At REA Group, she leads brand and performance marketing, audience growth, personalization, and analytics.
