December, 2025 – Google and Estadão have announced a partnership to help improve the usefulness of results inGoogle’s Gemini app. Under the agreement, Estadão supplies a real-time, 24/7 news feed whose content is used to help generate responses to user queries made through Gemini—particularly those related to breaking news and developing stories. The agreement focuses exclusively on factual news.
Estadão and Google have maintained a long-standing relationship that also includes participation in the Google News Showcase, a program through which Estadão licenses editorially curated news panels for use in products such as Google News and Discover. The new agreement represents an evolution of the companies’ relationship at a moment when AI is creating new ways for users to access information.
“We’ve been revamping longstanding partnerships and entering into new ones to improve our products and help publishers explore new opportunities in the AI era. As part of this effort, we’ve signed strategic commercial agreements with a range of publishers globally — like this one with Estadão — to explore how AI can help drive more engaged audiences for publishers, while also improving our products for users,” said Henrique Matos, News Partnership Director for Latam.
“Google and Estadão have built a productive, mutually beneficial relationship grounded in programs that support the development of products aimed at broad consumer audiences. This new agreement extends that relationship into the Gemini app and the rapidly evolving field of artificial intelligence. It is especially meaningful that it comes into effect in the year of Estadão’s 150th anniversary, reinforcing the enduring value of independent journalism across whatever platforms news consumers choose,” said Erick Brêtas, CEO of Estadão.
