Las Vegas, January 5, 2026. As part of CES 2026, taking place from January 5–9 in Las Vegas, United States, LG Electronics unveiled its new home robot CLOiD, an artificial intelligence (AI)–powered assistant designed to automate household tasks and move closer to the goal of a “Zero-Labor Home.”
Developed by the South Korean company, CLOiD features a humanoid design with a mobile wheeled base for autonomous navigation, drawing on LG’s experience with robotic vacuum cleaners. The unit has a low center of gravity, ensuring stability and safety, even in environments with children or pets.
Its torso can tilt to adjust height, allowing it to handle objects from knee level upward. CLOiD is equipped with two articulated arms, each with seven degrees of freedom, replicating human movements in the shoulders, elbows and wrists. Its hands feature five independent fingers for object manipulation. The robot’s “head” houses the main processor, a display for digital facial expressions, a speaker, cameras and multiple sensors.
What did CLOiD do at CES 2026?
During live demonstrations, CLOiD showcased practical capabilities such as preparing breakfast—retrieving milk from the refrigerator and heating a croissant in the oven. It also started washing machine cycles and, once the clothes were dry, folded and stacked them.
In addition, the device acts as a home coordinator, recognizing household appliances and anticipating daily routines to manage tasks even when users are away.
AI: the engine behind CLOiD
Artificial intelligence sits at the core of CLOiD. It uses visual language models to process images and videos and convert them into structured information. Through visual action models, it translates verbal or visual commands into physical movements.
The robot learns users’ lifestyle patterns, communicates through natural language and on-screen gestures, and integrates with LG’s ThinQ ecosystem, including the ThinQ ON hub, to control other connected appliances.
According to Steve Baek, President of LG Home Appliance Solution Company, “the CLOiD robot is designed to interact naturally with the humans it serves, delivering an optimized level of domestic assistance.”
