Olympic champion freestyle skier and model Eileen Gu shines in a new 70-second ad for the Porsche Macan Electric, showcasing the compact SUV’s power, style, and grace. Released on Wednesday, the commercial, titled “Taking the Wheel,” seamlessly aligns Gu’s record-breaking skiing achievements with Porsche’s winning spirit.
This campaign marks a continuation of Gu’s partnership with the luxury car brand, which began earlier this year when she joined their roster of endorsers. Recently, at Auto China 2024, Porsche announced her as the new Macan ambassador, further solidifying her role within the brand.
Porsche also used the event to unveil a China-exclusive edition of the Taycan and to premiere the all-electric Macan, enhancing its presence in the Chinese market.
Born in the U.S., Gu made headlines by representing China at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, where she became the youngest gold medalist in freestyle skiing at just 18. Most recently, she clinched gold in SuperPipe at the 2024 Winter X Games despite battling a hip injury.
The “Taking the Wheel” commercial opens with dynamic shots of Gu sprinting down a busy sidewalk, interspersed with clips of a striking turquoise Macan speeding along the road. As the scene transitions to night, Gu’s gym attire transforms into an elegant lavender dress, and she steps into a matching Macan.

The ad captures the thrill of her skiing prowess, juxtaposing scenes of Gu skiing down majestic, snow-covered slopes in sleek black attire with clips of a black Macan, highlighting the vehicle’s impressive features. The commercial concludes with Gu driving off into the horizon, leaving a lasting impression of elegance and performance.
In addition to the main ad, Porsche released a behind-the-scenes feature showcasing the production process. Last month, the brand also launched a major campaign featuring international pop star Dua Lipa, who directed and starred in a short film for the Macan, further enhancing Porsche’s commitment to excellence and innovation.
