Los Angeles, CA, March 4, 2024 — Editor Dan de Winter is now globally represented by The Den Editorial. Based in Los Angeles, Dan’s collaborative spirit has brought about many opportunities to work with industry icons and emerging talent alike, continually pushing creative boundaries with every project.
Dan’s career began in San Francisco, where he studied cinematography and motion graphics at the Academy of Arts. His first job following graduation was with the ad agency Cutwater, where he served as an assistant editor. Since then, he’s been a rostered editor at edit houses Rock Paper Scissors and Work Editorial. Dan’s breakout film “Lebron: Uninterrupted” for Samsung was edited on set to match the seamless transitions envisioned by director Andreas Nilsson. The film went on to win a Clio Award for Best Film Craft. Additionally, Dan edited another Clio Award winner; the short film “Nzingha,” directed by Anderson Wright, follows African American fencer Nzingha Prescod on her journey to the Rio Summer Olympics.
His work spans a diverse range of genres, demonstrating his adaptability and prowess as a post-production talent. On the short-form side, Dan has cut commercials for prominent brands like Sprite, FanDuel, Nike, and Jordan, and music videos for artists such as Common, Jorja Smith, Marvin Gaye, and IDK featuring Offset. His long-form work includes editing season three of the Netflix series Untold, a sports anthology series. De Winter also cut the documentary “The Heart Still Hums,” directed by Savanah Leaf and Taylor Russell. The documentary, which follows mothers battling cycles of homelessness, neglect, and drug abuse as they fight for their children, won Best Short Documentary at the Palm Springs Film Festival.
“Funny enough, ‘the Den’ encapsulates my editing process,” remarks de Winter. “I’m all about the solitude of it. I don’t break focus until the edit hits that sweet spot. What I like about The Den is they’re similarly dogged in their pursuit of great post-production. Every editor I’ve encountered there is also a huge nerd for film and storytelling. I’ve long admired their work, and I’m thrilled to be a part of their roster.”
Managing Director Laura Macauley says, “Adding Dan de Winter was a no-brainer. His passion and energy for the business aligns with ours, his work is incredible, and he is a great fit within our roster.”
