ARIA calls for urgent action to connect local music in public consultation on radio code

The Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) has officially opened nominations for the 2025 ARIA Award for Best Use of Australian Music in an Advertisement, celebrating the creative and effective use of local music.

To further support agencies and promote the discovery of Australian music, ARIA has partnered with DISCO to provide exclusive access to a professionally curated playlist featuring sync-ready Australian tracks from ARIA member labels and distributors.

Agencies entering the award will receive unique login credentials to explore this extensive catalogue, enabling creative teams to quickly discover suitable Australian tracks using search tools categorised by mood, energy, genre, and campaign fit. Tracks include immediate access to contact details for rightsholders and sync representatives to streamline the entire licensing process.

The 2025 Award also introduces a new, tiered entry fee structure to ensure equitable access for agencies of all sizes:

  • Small agencies (under 10 staff): $500
  • Medium agencies (under 50 staff): $1,500
  • Large agencies (51+ staff): $2,000

All fees exclude GST.

Entries are open from today, 28 July, and close Friday, 18 August. The eligibility period covers 24 August 2024 to 22 August 2025.

ARIA CEO, Annabelle Herd, said: “This ARIA Award has rapidly become a key celebration of how powerfully Australian music can elevate creative campaigns. With the new DISCO partnership and an equitable entry structure, we’re excited to help more creative teams discover outstanding local music and bring their visions to life.

“We can’t wait to see this year’s inspired collaborations.”

Now in its third successful year, the Adland ARIA Award highlights the impactful collaborations between Australian brands and local artists, showcasing the powerful role music plays in storytelling, audience connection, and brand identity.
