As CMOs juggle brand, data and technology decisions simultaneously, success now takes more than great creative or strong media. It takes a partner that can bring the full system together: platforms, experiences and performance. Code and Theory, the digital transformation network within Stagwell, today announced that JJ Schmuckler has been appointed President to help marketing leaders cut through that complexity and turn it into measurable business impact.
Schmuckler spent the vast majority of his career at WPP, culminating in the role of Global Chief Growth Officer at VML. He most recently served as the Group President and Chief Revenue Officer at Real Chemistry.
As President, he will help propel Code and Theory’s next phase of growth by sharpening how the company shows up in the market and reinforcing the kind of partnership clients need now: one that connects platforms, data, technology and creative into a coherent system, not a series of one-off campaigns. Drawing on his experience across complex organizations, he’s known for quickly pinpointing the core business challenge and building from there as additional capabilities can drive impact over time.
For 25 years, Code and Theory has operated at the intersection of creativity and technology and sees increasing client demand for partners who can bring that balance to the center of the marketing operating model. Schmuckler’s appointment underscores Code and Theory’s continued focus on being the partner for companies seeking an integrated model, where strategy, creativity and engineering are not siloed, but aligned to accelerate transformation in an AI-shaped landscape.
Schmuckler says: “The C-suite are being asked to play five-dimensional chess, making brand decisions, technology decisions, data decisions and transformation bets all at once. What excites me about Code and Theory is that the capabilities are intentionally unified and have been developed with focus and precision, not as the outgrowth of mergers and consolidations. Clients may come in through different doors, but the end story is the same: building an ecosystem that connects strategy, creativity and engineering in a way that actually makes sense together.”
Michael Treff, CEO at Code and Theory says: “JJ is one of the most trusted leaders in the industry, a true confidant to senior marketers. He understands the ever-changing landscape and knows how to build the kind of partner relationship that turns complexity into momentum. We’re thrilled to have him leading with us.”
