Beyoncé, the 32-time Grammy winner, made a dazzling appearance on Friday, July 26, during NBCUniversal’s primetime coverage of the Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony, surprising millions of viewers as she introduced Team USA.
In a dynamic 2-minute and 30-second clip, Beyoncé remixed her hit single “YA YA” from her Cowboy Carter album, featuring some of the top athletes representing the U.S.
“Hello, girls,” Beyoncé greeted. “Hello, Beyoncé,” responded the women’s gymnastics team, including stars Jade Carey, Sunisa “Suni” Lee, Simone Biles, Jordan Chiles, and Hezly Rivera.
Dressed in sleek navy blue bodysuits, the female gymnasts were poised for competition. The introduction continued with the men’s gymnastics team, featuring Fred Richard, Brody Malone, Paul Juda, Asher Hong, and Stephen Nedoroscik.
“Oui oui, Paris,” the “Jolene” singer said, kicking off the song with the line, “We snappin.’”
Beyoncé’s outfit was a showstopper: a cowgirl hat paired with a custom Thom Browne varsity jacket-inspired opera coat adorned with the Olympic rings. Underneath, she wore a white bodysuit emblazoned with “USA” in blue and red, complemented by bedazzled red, white, and blue Stuart Weitzman cowboy boots.
This unforgettable performance by the Houston native added a spectacular boost to the 2024 Olympic Games, celebrating the spirit of competition and national pride.
