Balma Films announces a new chapter in its growth with the arrival of Renata Pimenta as a partner, alongside Thiago Balma, founder of the production company. The move comes at a time of expansion for the creative production company, part of Boiler Hub, as it marks two years of operations and looks to further expand its work across special projects, more complex productions and opportunities in international markets.
With more than 25 years of experience in the audiovisual industry, Renata joins Balma to strengthen its ability to take on larger and more complex projects. She began her career as a first assistant director before moving into client services and later taking on operational leadership roles. Her experience is particularly focused on client service, operations and post-production. For the past 20 years, she has been part of Sentimental Filmes.
As part of this new phase, Renata will share the company’s executive leadership with Thiago, working directly across projects, clients, teams, directors and key strategic decisions.
The move follows a period of accelerated growth for the production company. In its first two years, Balma produced 48 films, expanded its roster of directors, created a dedicated special projects division and advanced the development of its international operations. Earlier this year, the company announced a production operation in the United States, in collaboration with local partners, as well as the possibility of producing in Europe. The initiative further expands Balma’s ability to connect talent, teams and markets.
“Renata’s arrival happened very naturally, and having her by my side as a partner is very special. We have known each other for ten years, when we had the opportunity to work together, and it was a great experience. Since then, I have had enormous admiration and respect for the person and professional she is. Her arrival as a partner comes at a time when Balma is expanding its work and taking on new challenges. Over the past two years, we have built an operation that has gained recognition in Brazil and internationally, created our special projects division and strengthened our international presence. Now we need a structure that can keep pace with this growth. Renata’s experience in operations, production, deadlines and budgets gives us even greater capacity to take on larger and more complex projects. It is growth with consistency,” says Thiago Balma, Founder and Executive Director of Balma.
With 50 awards for the Gavião Kyikatejê project at leading advertising and production festivals around the world, Balma has also been strengthening its presence across different formats and disciplines. The company aims to develop projects that move between advertising, content, entertainment and culture, responding to the transformations in the market and the growing demand for productions across different formats, languages, platforms and production models.
This new scenario calls for more diverse and flexible structures, capable of participating in the development of creative solutions while adapting to different production needs.
“Everything I have built throughout my career now becomes part of a new chapter at a production company that is also going through a period of expansion. I bring more than two decades of experience, but also an enormous desire to expand, learn and build. I believe we have the opportunity to expand formats, markets and the complexity of our projects, including internationally, without losing our essence: a well-structured process, talented people, diverse perspectives and excellence in delivery,” says Renata Pimenta, new partner and Executive Director at Balma.
With Renata and Thiago leading the company’s executive direction, Balma aims to bring together different talents and solutions according to the needs of each project, maintaining an operation prepared to respond to different demands in terms of deadlines, budgets, scale and delivery formats.
The new structure reinforces Balma’s positioning as a production company equipped to take on increasingly diverse and complex projects, both in Brazil and internationally.
