Bakery Appoints Jacqueline Thompson as the agency’s first Chief Operating Officer and Managing Partner

After a year of significant new business wins, Bakery has announced the appointment of Jacqueline Thompson as the agency’s first Chief Operating Officer and Managing Partner. Thompson, who has been with the Austin-based creative shop since 2019, previously served as Group Account Director, Head of Accounts, and most recently, Managing Director. Her appointment marks a pivotal moment for Bakery as it continues to expand its client roster and footprint.

This year, the agency is opening a massive new office in Austin, a milestone that will be celebrated during SXSW 2025 with a high-energy event featuring live music, panel discussions, and world champion sumo wrestlers. The move, along with Jacqueline’s promotion, comes in response to Bakery’s rapid growth and the influx of creative talent needed to support new clients such as Tree Hut, GE Lighting, and NatureSweet—joining an already impressive roster that includes Nike, Shiner, and Diageo. Jacqueline has played a crucial role in the agency’s expansion, strengthening both new and existing client relationships.

In her newly created role, Jacqueline will take on responsibilities beyond the typical COO. In addition to overseeing the agency’s day-to-day operations, she will serve as a brand steward and play a key role in shaping Bakery’s uniquely diverse culture. She will continue leading business development efforts while working closely with the Head of Accounts to foster strong client relationships. In many ways, this appointment is a formal recognition of the leadership and impact she has already had at Bakery.

Under her guidance, Bakery has become a 60% female organization, with 40% of its staff identifying as BIPOC. She also implemented paid maternity and paternity leave policies, covering biological, adopted, and surrogate children, further reinforcing Bakery’s commitment to inclusivity and employee well-being.

“Jacqueline is simply one of the best people I’ve ever worked with,” said Micky Ogando, CCO and Founder of Bakery. “She’s been our ride-or-die since she walked through the door. She knows how to get things done. And she’s loved by clients and staff alike. The truth is she’s been doing all the things you expect of a COO already—now we’re just making it official.”

Reflecting on her new role, Thompson shared, “Bakery is a place unlike anywhere I’ve had the pleasure to work with, and I mean that in the best possible way. We’ve grown so much. It’s exciting to take on more responsibility to help continue down that path.”
