Los Angeles – (March 23, 2026) –  Apache’s Quinn Alvarez provided color for “Summer of ‘94,” the documentary exploring the journey of the U.S. Men’s National Soccer Team ahead of the 1994 World Cup, which made its world premiere at SXSW on March 14.

Directed by Dave Lamattina and Chad Walker, the film follows a team of underdogs preparing to compete for the World Cup on home soil without the backing of a professional domestic league. The documentary features never before seen camcorder footage captured by the players themselves, alongside interviews with figures including Alexi Lalas, Cobi Jones, Tony Meola, and coach Bora Milutinović. Following its SXSW debut, the film will premiere on Fox Sports on May 23.

“This documentary has so much flair: from the voluminous array of mullets and mustaches to the VHS archival highlighting an incredible underdog story at the heart of it all,” says Apache’s Alvarez. “In the grade, our directors Dave and Chad let me show my colorist equivalent of a glorious mullet while also making sure it contributed towards the incredible journey of this team that taught a skeptical nation how much fun this sport can be.”

“‘Summer ’94’ wasn’t just about building a team — it was about forging one through experience,” adds Apache Producer Luis Amaya. “Coach Bora pushed them beyond borders, beyond comfort, sending them into hostile stadiums across the world where every match meant adapting, surviving, and growing. Without the structure of a traditional national league, they gained something even more valuable — an identity shaped by constant challenge, relentless travel, and the kind of bond only built when you face the world together. In the end, it wasn’t just soccer they were playing — it was a masterclass in resilience, unity, and what it truly means to represent something bigger than yourself.”
