“An Ode to Procrastination”: Award-Winning Director Aleksandra Kingo’s Relatable Take on Creative Struggles
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

London, UK – Acclaimed director Aleksandra Kingo unveils her latest creation, “An Ode to Procrastination,” a tongue-in-cheek and slightly grotesque short film that delves into the relatable struggles faced by creatives. With humour and absurdity, Kingo brings to light the pressure to deliver in the creative industry, where procrastination often serves as a defence mechanism against self-doubt.

“An Ode to Procrastination” follows Sarah, a young artist grappling with the daunting task of writing. Despite her aspirations to create what she believes to be an award-winning piece, Sarah finds herself paralyzed by procrastination. The film intricately explores the fears that plague many artists, as Sarah is plagued by anticipation and perfectionism. With a whimsical touch, Kingo captures the inner turmoil of creative minds, portraying Sarah’s struggle with both relatability and humour.

Director Aleksandra Kingo shares the inspiration behind the creation of “An Ode to Procrastination”: “This film is an attempt to meet my own creative struggles, packed in a comical, slightly absurd form. I know too well about procrastination and creative doubts – being scared to start something that you truly love is definitely a form of torture. But just like Sarah, I have mastered the art of pretending everything is just fine and shrugging things off. In a way, Sarah is me, but she is also every other stuck creative out there. I wanted to create a film that is relatable and therapeutic, without being patronising or mocking.”

“An Ode to Procrastination” is a testament to Kingo’s unique aesthetic and storytelling abilities. With a strong focus on production design, the film transports viewers into Sarah’s world, where every detail is meticulously crafted to represent a sense of Sarah overflowing with creativity and ideas, yet being unable to bring any of it to life.

Since its release, “An Ode to Procrastination” has garnered critical acclaim and accolades on the festival circuit. Kingo’s film has been recognised with numerous awards, including “Best Production Design” at Berlin Commercial, “Best Fashion Film” at Aesthetica Short Film Festival, and ”Best styling/Best Fashion” at Barcelona Fashion Film Festival.
