AML Group has hired Liz Wolstenholme as its new Head of Strategy.

Wolstenholme takes over from Christian Barnes, who is stepping back into a consulting role following his move to Devon. She joins from Accenture Song where she was Head of Brand Strategy on JLR.

Wolstenholme will oversee strategy for all clients, and her responsibilities will include business development and supporting the strategic direction and growth of the agency. She reports to Managing Director Tim Lloyd.

The news comes at a pivotal time for AML as it expands into new markets and sectors, such as law, tech, environment, energy, charity, and government.

At Accenture Song, Wolstenholme led award-winning work for Jaguar Land Rover across all brands, including the “Livestream” campaign for Land Rover, which won multiple awards including Best Use of Tech in Out-Of-Home at the Campaign Tech Awards 2023.

Prior to that, Wolstenholme was Head of Brand Strategy at Weber Shandwick, developing pivotal strategic work for clients such as MasterCard and Unilever as well as sustainability work for Nespresso. She was also Global Planning Director at Saatchi & Saatchi, where she worked on HSBC and Board Planner at RKCR where she led the rejuvenation of Marks & Spencer’s renowned sustainability program, Plan A.

Wolstenholme started her career in investment banking before cutting her teeth on Renault and Merrill Lynch at Publicis. This was followed by a lengthy stint at WCRS, where she led strategy on the “Plan from the Pru” campaign for Prudential, as well as work for BUPA, Transport for London and the Government.

Liz Wolstenholme said: “I am thrilled to be joining AML, an agency with a terrific track record in complex sectors where I can bring all my experience to bear. Agile and with a clear value proposition, AML is among the creative shops shaping the future.”

Managing Director of AML, Tim Lloyd added, “We are delighted to welcome Liz to AML. She brings a wealth of strategic experience, strong leadership credentials and a proven track record of delivering impactful work for major brands.

As we continue to expand into key sectors Liz’s expertise will be invaluable in helping drive the next phase of the agency’s growth.

I would also like to thank Christian for his outstanding contribution over the past seven years. He has played a significant role in shaping the agency’s success and we are pleased that his expertise will remain available to the team in a consulting capacity.”
