MIAMI – December 10, 2024 – Today, alma, the ungeneral agency, announces the appointment of Jorge Murillo as Co-Chief Creative Officer.
In the last several years, alma has rapidly expanded its reach and reputation, securing a place as one of the most awarded creative agencies in the world. Murillo’s creative instincts and leadership have played a key role in that success, and in this new position he will help to steer the creative direction of two of the agency’s largest clients—McDonald’s and Molson Coors.
The appointment comes on the heels of Murillo’s hands-on role in refining the agency’s positioning as the ungeneral agency, a move intended to update alma’s position in the market to more accurately reflect a new, more diverse marketplace. Continuing to report to alma’s long-serving Co-President and CCO, Alvar Suñol, Murillo will help to drive important industry conversations around the shifting consumer landscape. He’ll also be charged with connecting and creating work for brands that are eager to rethink their approach to “general market” advertising in order to succeed in an increasingly diverse future.
“Since joining us as an Associate Creative Director in 2008, Jorge has been an integral part of alma’s story,” said Alvar Suñol, co-President and Chief Creative Officer. “He’s been a creative leader not only for our McDonald’s and Molson Coors teams, but also in shaping our ungeneral repositioning, which he exemplifies. As we continue to champion how critical the ungeneral approach is for the market and our clients, there’s no one better suited to help drive this perspective forward and deliver even more groundbreaking creative work.”
Throughout his 16-year tenure at alma Jorge has consistently delivered award-winning work that moves the needle for clients. He played a key role in launching The Nest for Opendoor, which was named the 2024 Experiential Campaign of the Year at Ad Age’s Breakout Brand Awards. He’s also earned numerous accolades from the industry’s most influential organizations, including Cannes, Effies, London International Awards, Clios, WARC, and One Show. These awards span a number of standout campaigns, including Tobacco Free Florida’s Underachievements, McDonalds’ HACER Scholarship Program, McDonalds’ Dorado with J Balvin, Miller Lite’s “Es Jose Time,” and Miller Lite’s “Beernaments.” In 2022, Jorge’s expertise was recognized as he served as a judge at the El Ojo Awards..
“I’m incredibly honored to continue my journey with alma, especially as we look to continue to push the boundaries of our creative work,” said Jorge Murillo, Co-CCO of alma. “This new role is not only a personal milestone for me, but also a significant step in shaping the future of alma’s creative leadership. I’m excited to help lead our creative teams into this new chapter, ensuring that our ungeneral approach resonates with diverse audiences and sets a new standard for our industry.”
Murillo begins in his new role immediately.
