Kino Lorber acquired U.S. rights to director Shoshannah Stern’s moving documentary, Marlee Matlin: Not Alone Anymore. IFC Films and Sapan Studios have once again partnered to release a SXSW film after picking up Jay Duplass’ hilarious Christmas-set comedy, The Baltimorons, which had its world premiere in this year’s Narrative Spotlight section. Saban Films has snapped up the North American rights to the McManus Brothers’ sci-fi mind-bender Redux Redux. Shudder made a deal to bring Ben Leonberg’s truly one-of-a-kind horror movie Good Boy not just the U.S., but much of the world. Meanwhile, the film’s lead, Indy, is a contender for the Cannes Palm Dog & the Fido Award!
Sticking with the Cannes theme, In the Current of Being, whose world premiere at this year’s SXSW XR Experience won it the special Agog Immersive Impact Award, will be heading to Cannes for its international premiere. Also heading to Cannes from SXSW will be Claudette Godfrey, VP Film & TV (that’s me!), Programmer Jim Kolmar, and Communications Director Jody Arlington. We hope to see you there!
