Leith Agency develops a children’s story to encourage people to donate
books to Emmie’s Books, a charity providing help to cancer patients in hospitals.
Edinburgh, Friday 12 May 2023:
Emmie’s Books gives books to help children who are living with cancer escape the tough times they are going through. To help drive book donations to the charity, the Leith Agency has produced a children’s book that shows people the power their stories can have on children who are ill.
The Day the Hospital Disappeared was sent to book publishers and authors to encourage them to help prescribe a dose of escapism. The book was written to include some of the most popular characters and stories and shows a child with cancer immersed in them worlds using striking but gentle illustrations. Each page offers a glimpse into the imagination of a child with cancer as they escape their hospital surroundings for a magical world.
An online version of the book can also be read here.
Accompanying the book is a press campaign using individual scenes aimed at the public to donate books to the charity.
