Documentary made in partnership with VanEck and Pacific Forest Trust
Los Angeles, CA, May 08, 2023 – Imaginary Forces, the creative studio behind the Emmy award-winning nature doc Sonic Sea, has launched the trailer for their latest documentary, ‘Beyond the Trees,’ directed by Anthony Gibbs. The documentary, set to debut this summer, aims to tell the story of a unique forest management model that blends conservation with finance.
The trailer shows us why, now more than ever, forests are so critical to the survival of our planet. Forests are not just a collection of trees; they are vital ecosystems that sustain life on Earth. ‘Beyond the Trees’ follows a team of conservationists, scientists, and investors as they work to restore native forests.
“Having the opportunity to inspire others to help fight the veryreal climate crisis has been so fulfilling,” Director Anthony Gibbs says. “I want others to have the same experience, to go on the same journey I did, and come away with a new profound understanding of how we can better care for the planet.”
The van Eck Forests have been using this successful model showcased in ‘Beyond the Trees,’ to restore forests, fight climate change, and generate revenues. The team is pioneering new methods of managing whole forest ecosystems, restoring forests from the root systems to the canopies, to enable a future where forests can once again thrive as complete, diverse, life-sustaining systems.
“We really immersed ourselves in the habitat and learned as much as we could.” Producer Renee Robson says. “From writing the script to convey a compelling story to even casting the voice for narration, we were very intentional each step of the way and wanted the tone to feel hopeful and inspiring.”
Pacific Forest Trust works with private forest owners, agencies, and environmental partners to create strategies that incentivize sustainable forestry practices and conservation efforts. They have conserved over 270,000 acres of forestland.
“Our drive is to get people excited about things that matter through potent visual storytelling,” Imaginary Forces Co-Founder Chip Houghton says. “We hope this documentary helps bring awareness to forest conservation and this successful initiative.”
