Australian Associated Motor Insurers (AAMI) is introducing Fansurance, a competition that helps footy fans recover from AFL-related woes felt by fans via their latest campaign from Ogilvy Australia.
The campaign builds on AAMI’s partnership with the AFL by extending on its traditional insurance coverage for footy fans, recognizing a lack of support for fans who’ve experienced a ‘clanger’ that damages their pride.
Be it biting it at the turnstiles before even getting into the stadium, taking a spill kicking the ball around with your kid in the yard, or and other fan-centric calamaties that can occur in the course of enjoy your favorite sport.
“You can’t call yourself a footy fan if you haven’t copped a footy to the face, or spilled sauce on your favorite guernsey,” said David Ponce de Leon, executive creative director, Ogilvy Australia,.
“We all remember it happening to us and the embarrassment it caused. Thankfully now fans can recover with AAMI’s Fansurance.”
Ogilvy launched the campaign with a film that shares a series of humorous examples (humorous because it’s not happening to you) of footy fans in slo-mo while encouraging people to enter the competition by visiting the site and sharing their own clanger moments. Entering puts fans in the running to win tickets to the 2022 Toyota AFL Grand Final, as well as Clanger Credit Prepaid gift cards to help them recover.
“We all know how integral footy fans are to the AFL, and as a major partner, we wanted to create a campaign that lets them know AAMI’s there to support them too, even if it’s only their pride that’s been damaged,” said Mim Haysom, chief marketing officer Suncorp Group.
