Each of the winning teams will compete virtually as ‘Team USA’ in the global Young Lions competition in May, 2022, prior to the 68th Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, the world’s leading celebration of creativity in communications, taking place from June 20-24th, 2022.

The teams were challenged to develop a creative and innovative campaign in their respective categories that would raise awareness for The Leukaemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) a national non-profit organisation that “funds lifesaving blood cancer research around the world, provides free information and support services, and is the voice for all blood cancer patients seeking access to quality, affordable, coordinated care.” The LLS mission is to cure leukaemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

“As the largest non-profit dedicated to creating a world without blood cancer, The Leukaemia & Lymphoma Society was thrilled to participate in the US Young Lions competition and see the innovative ideas from our next generation of film, marketing, media, PR and print professionals,” said Louis J. DeGennaro, Ph.D., LLS president and CEO. “On behalf of the 1.5 million Americans living with – or in remission from – blood cancer, I’m extending my sincerest thanks to the 250 teams and esteemed judges who dedicated their time and talent to help LLS reach new audiences. Gaming and Esports have been instrumental in helping non-profits like LLS to explore new funding opportunities as we work to save lives and improve the quality of care for blood cancer patients and their families.”

Scott Felenstein, president – sales, marketing and partnerships of National CineMedia (NCM), added: “The creativity and the compassion exhibited by the Young Lions’ participants was extraordinary and will benefit LLS, and all of those who are fighting this disease. NCM is thrilled to spearhead this competition, bringing brilliant thought and executable ideas to a charity working hard to eradicate blood
